In 1590 the town opened a tavern in it. In 1763 the tavern \u0022To the Austrian Emperor\u0022 was opened in the building, and in 1770 Emperor Joseph II really stayed in it. It was turned into a theatre between 1841 and 1853. It has been a theatre ever since, and now it is the oldest building in present-day Slovakia that has been continuously used as theatre.
