The Upper Girls' School of M\u00e1ramarossziget was opened in 1861 thanks to Le\u00f6wey Kl\u00e1ra. The school was closed by the higher authorities in the same year and reopened in 1870. The building was converted for the school.@\nIn 1901, on the occasion of the celebrations of the millennium of Hungary, the exterior was decorated in Art Nouveau style with colourful ceramics.
